A modern residential and commercial building with a clearly structured glass façade has been constructed at 585 Union Street in Brooklyn, New York City. Designed by the architectural firm Fogarty Finger Architects, the project combines sophisticated architecture with functional glass solutions.
Bird-Friendly Glass Façade
The façade incorporates ORNILUX® mikado and sunbelt A51. These insulating glass solutions not only provide efficient solar protection but also effective bird protection thanks to their special UV-reflective coating: birds recognize the glass surfaces as obstacles, while the structure remains nearly invisible to the human eye. In total, around 7,000 m² of insulating glass were manufactured for the project.
Balustrade Glazing
As a design element, ORNILUX® supermikado panes were also used in the balustrades. These are laminated safety glass units (LSG/TSG 88.4 with PVB interlayer) – approximately 1,200 m² were produced directly at arcon Flat and Safety Glass in Feuchtwangen.
