EDGE ElbSide, located in Hamburg’s Elbbrücken district, sets new standards for sustainable construction. The smart office building combines innovative architecture, energy-efficient building technology, and high-performance glazing solutions to create a modern and future-oriented working environment.

After approximately two and a half years of construction, the building was handed over to its main tenant, Vattenfall, which occupies more than 80% of the space. The development consists of a seven-storey podium building and a 17-storey tower featuring office and gastronomy areas. Spacious atriums and transparent winter gardens create flexible and attractive working environments.

Energy-Efficient Glass Façade

The approximately 12,000 m² façade combines sophisticated design with high functionality. Pilkington Suncool™ 70/35 solar control insulating glass was used throughout large parts of the building envelope. The triple safety glazing reduces solar heat gain while ensuring high daylight transmission and a comfortable indoor climate.

The striking winter gardens were also equipped with Pilkington Suncool™ 70/35. In the ground floor and mezzanine areas, Pilkington Suncool™ 50/25 was additionally used to provide enhanced solar protection during warmer periods.

Sustainability and Modern Workspaces

EDGE ElbSide was designed with a strong focus on sustainability and user well-being. The slim-floor construction method significantly reduces CO₂ emissions compared to conventional concrete structures. Natural ventilation, daylight-optimized interiors, and energy-efficient building systems contribute to a modern and resource-saving workplace.

The project aims to achieve HafenCity Platinum and WELL Core & Shell Gold certifications, underlining its commitment to sustainability, health, and comfort. EDGE ElbSide therefore represents a new generation of sustainable office buildings.
