Highly Effective Bird Protection on Glass Facades – SEEN Shiny 9/90 mm

Around 400 m² of glass at the DFB Campus are now fitted with SEEN Elements. The SEEN shiny 9/90 mm bird protection marking has been tested repeatedly and rated as highly effective – while hardly affecting the architecture. From a distance, the 9 mm dots, placed 90 mm apart, are almost invisible. Yet the highly reflective surface warns birds of an obstacle in their flight path and helps prevent collisions.

The DFB Campus marks the first time in more than 100 years that Germany’s national football association has built and operated its own sports facilities. Administration, sport, and science now come together under one roof. Sustainability was also a key priority: SEEN Elements were installed on the windows to support biodiversity and reduce bird strikes.

Every year in Germany, an estimated 100 to 115 million birds die from collisions with glass facades. SEEN AG’s innovative markings provide lasting protection and an effective solution to this widespread threat.

The DFB Campus was designed by architects KWA kadawittfeldarchitektur. The retrofitting of the glass facades was carried out by Signways, based in Frankfurt.
