Pilkington \u2013 Innovation from the NSG Group<\/strong><\/p>\n

In 2006, Pilkington<\/a> was acquired by the NSG Group, the world’s leading supplier of glass and glazing systems. The group operates production sites worldwide and has sales activities in over 100 countries. The Architectural division produces and supplies glass for buildings, solar energy, and other applications.<\/p>\n

Woodnest \u2013 A Glass Treehouse with a View<\/strong><\/p>\n

Around the world, Pilkington demonstrates what is possible with glass. In this \u201cProject of the Month,\u201d we present Woodnest<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Woodnest<\/strong> is an extraordinary treehouse located on the steep, forested hillsides of Odda in Norway. Designed by Norwegian architects Helen & Hard, the site consists of two treehouses, each accommodating four guests. Nestled in nature, the Woodnest treehouses feature electricity, a small kitchenette, high-speed Wi-Fi, a bathroom, and a shower. Each unit is equipped with underfloor heating, ensuring comfort during cold winter nights. The cabins, with windows facing in all directions, hang about five meters above the ground, suspended among the trees.<\/p>\n

To ensure thermal comfort and energy efficiency, the windows were fitted with Pilkington Insulight\u2122 Therm<\/strong> insulating glass units made from Pilkington Optifloat\u2122 Clear<\/strong> combined with Pilkington Optitherm\u2122 S3<\/strong> low-emissivity glass.
For the large front-facing windows, Pilkington Insulight\u2122 Protect<\/strong> insulating glass units were used, combining Pilkington Optifloat\u2122 Clear<\/strong> with Pilkington Optilam\u2122 Therm S3<\/strong> laminated safety glass \u2013 offering both energy efficiency and occupant protection.<\/p>\n
